Which type of intakes should i get?
Theres two types of intakes I want to buy. Which ones are the best? Short Rams or Cold Air Intakes? Right now I'm looking into the Short Rams because of easy installation, and as of the Cold Air Intakes. Theres a lot of people saying i have to take my left right passenger side fender off in order to put the cold air intake. Is it really true? Oh i have a 2005 Subaru WRX STi, so my intake is located on the ride side where the right passenger side. What brand should I get? An Injen (Cold Air Intake) or a K&N (Short Ram)? I'm also looking at the Cold Air Intake because of high horsepower gain, they say that the Injen cold air intake adds an additonal 25+ HP gain, while the short ram gives out 10+, probably do to the cold air that the Injen intake is sucking in. Which one should i get? Will the cold air intake be a pain to install on a 2005 Subaru WRX STi? HELP!!!

Re: Which type of intakes should i get?
Do the silencer delete if you want to modify your intake. CAI and Short Rams don't do a whole lot, plus can cause problems. Remove the scoop that forces air into the fender and plug the hole. Next remove the snorkel in the fender and you're left with the airbox and a hole that leads from the fender to the airbox. some people use a PVC pipe and stuff it into this hole and partially into your airbox, some leave it open and use weatherstripping to seal around the airbox and fender. Scoobymods has a great write up on this. Check it out. i did this (used the PVC pipe) and used a K&N drop in filter.
