Oil Catch Can

Is any body using an oil catch can on their truck? It is hooked up between the pcv and intake to remove oil from the system.
Does it work?
Any problems with install?
Any noises like air leaking.
What brand used.

Thanks and have a great day,

Don

It does work. That's one major flaw to these GEN3 engines.....excessive oil consumption through the pcv setup. It definately works to keep oil from getting into the intake and combustion chambers. This cuts way down on the carbon buildup on the intake runners, combustion chamber, etc.

Install is straight forward. No noise or other problems.

AMW makes an awesome kit. Pricey but really clean.

Another way to help with this problem is to use an ls6 valley pan, which removes the pcv in the valve cover and moves it between the intake and valley pan.
This will not eliminate the problem, but will help tremedously.

Re: Oil Catch Can

Does anybody have a link to that site where I can take a look at the AMW catch can?

Re: Oil Catch Can

Right now the only people that have these catch cans is Midwest Performance & Development. Their web site is www.MidwestPD.com
They are located in Ohio. They usually don't answer the phone but you can email them with your phone # and they will get back to you fairly quickly.

They have silver and black cans in stock. No one else that I can find has them. I have done business with this co. a couple of times with good results. Their shipping is low and super quick.

Almost forgot www.eliteengineeringusa.com is working on a catch can for the LS1 engine. Should be ready in a couple of weeks. It is going to be cheaper than the AMW can

Have a great day,

Don
