Better to dye or paint your dashboard?
I want to either paint or dye my dashboard. Currently it is black and I want to make it a light pink. Is is better to paint or to use a dye? If you recommend either what are the steps to ensure it comes out right and doesnt chip. Please let me know I could use all the help I can get. Thanks

Re: Better to dye or paint your dashboard?
The lighter color you go with the harder its going to be seeing out the windshield in the daytime or while the sun is out. In some states its not exactly legal to paint the dash because when light hits the dash, it reflects back onto the windshield and makes it difficult to see. To see what im talking about get a pink piece of paper and sit it on the dash and look at the windshield. You will notice it will be much more difficult to see where the paper is reflecting.
Krylon makes an affordable spray paint that is formulated for bonding to plastic. regular paint doesnt stick to plastic for very long. I wouldnt recommend painting your dash but if you insist, go with the darkest pink possible. |

Re: Better to dye or paint your dashboard?
Thanks for the information. I hadnt thought of the glare it would cause. Maybe I will be better off painting the instruement panel and vents the light pink and maybe the airbag and glove box. I will try a piece of paper and see what happens. I think it would look better if I painted the dash but dont want anymore glare than already exists. thanks agian
