89CivicDX-Too much oil

My mechanic put too much oil during oil/filter change maintenance. Dip stick checks about 1 cm. more oil level beyond the max. dot on the dip stick.

Assuming that too much oil is also not good, how do I remove some oil from the pan, without opening the oil drain cork (Ya Ya I know)?

youre gonna have to just jack the car up and drain some oil from the pan, not that hard should only take you few minutes or two. id use a ratchet wrech if you can because the oil pan bolt is uneven and likes to get stripped easily.

Re: 89CivicDX-Too much oil

hey you could always put the dipstick in and clean if off about 1000 times. but seriously just do the pan adea. losen it untill it slowly drips from the hole with the bolt still in and check it when you think it should be there. good luck

Re: 89CivicDX-Too much oil

Nah, mine was a little full too, not a big deal..just dont go TOO full, if your crank dips into that oil your going to have alot of issues with seals and also stress on the engine from the increase in drag, but that is an extreme case..your fine.

Re: 89CivicDX-Too much oil

Hey fellow brothers - I did it. Taped two straws (thick ones that would just slide into where the dip stick goes in) together to make into one long flexible tube. Took the dip stick out. Inserted the "straw tube" into the hole, deep enough, sucked the oil with mouth until I saw the oil coming close to the mouth. Pinched the tube, took it out and drained.
Took me about 20 times inside and then out to drain. You'l be amazed at how much oil came out.
I was able to bring the oil just to the proper max mark.
I did not want to to do it from the drain cork cause they put after market cork that my friend mechanic seals it with a putty, everytime an oil change is done, and I did not want to do it.
