Unhappy 1993 Camry V6 for parts

I took the car to another mechanic and finally saw what the problem is and have decided to sell the car for parts. What the local mechanic saw was the dangerous wobble in the rear wheels caused by toasted trailing arm links & bushings coming apart. Apparently these are OEM parts only and cost over $150 per piece (total of 4) to replace. I have unwisely been driving the car because I have no choice. I didn't know how scary seeing the wheel move while on the lift could be and knew that I would not spend the money to repair the car. The cost of fixing is more than I paid for the car. I love Toyota but with the other problems I was looking at close to $850 w/tax for trailing arm parts. Then there is the rusted out flex pipe on the exhaust which is all tied together, according to Meineke, and has to be replaced as one unit from converter forward. And all 4 struts are leaking badly which means the road is a tough place on the backside. Expensive repairs so I must call it quits. Anyone live in Vermont want a 1993 Camry V6 for parts? Has new tires, new fuel filter, radiator is solid and there is a new temp gauge+seal to go with it still in the box, engine is fine but has slow oil leak, CV joints recently replaced, windows intact, new brake pads put on, existing rotors are fine but there are new ones in the trunk, gas tank seems fine, washer resevoir has crack near top but will work fine if not picky, original radio/tape/cd player in car that needs to be cleaned or buffered from the bumps in the road because the tapes got caught and the cds would skip but the radio was enough for me. Starter may need to be tweaked and most of the hoses and belts seem fine but then I am not a mechanic. No reasonable offer refused, buyer picks up on site.

Cool

You're not gonna find 3vz-fe parts cars.

"Apparently these are OEM parts only"
Na man, no such thing as OEM only.

Trailing arm

http://search.ebay.com/search/search...=&saprchi=eBay Camry / ES / Solara / Avalon trailing arm goodies

"Then there is the rusted out flex pipe on the exhaust which is all tied together, according to Meineke, and has to be replaced as one unit from converter forward"

Total crap. You can:
A) Have a brand new performance y-pipe made for $250-300 and gain 10-15bhp worth of power because the stock one is crappy & restrictive
B) Cut the flex-sections off the buy, Buy some on ebay for $30-40

Hell for that matter, if you don't have any emessions testing you can ditch the cat, and gain another 5bhp. up to around 10bhp if yours is clogged.

All Toyota/Lexus/Scion OEM struts are KYB.

If you replace struts, ALWAYS replace the springs.

Springs Avoid coilover sleeves / coilover springs at all costs. Most have > 300lb " compression springs (I.E. they are stiff enough to qualify for a NASCAR Talledega, or Daytona race.)
There are many drop-spring reviews.

If you don't want to drop it (You honestly might as well...) Ebach Camry / ES springs only drop the car 1" rear, 1.25" front, and are honestly very mild. They are only one notch above stock levels. You would still be softer with OEM KYB struts, and Ebaich springs than a stock accord would have... (Which is why most people don't by EB springs if they want a sporty feel!)

The only hard to fix oil leak is a main seal. What, or where is the leak & we can have you fix that.

Common to any container filled with water too far when it freezes. Clean it with rubbing alcohol, Epoxy the crack, or...... eBay

Silicon hose kit with about 15' of 3.5mm, 10' of 6.0mm, and 2' 10.0mm hose will replace almost every vacuum & coolant line on the car.
1/4" fuel/oil hose for the fuel return line. 3/8" for the transmission cooler lines. I do believe 5/16", or 3/8" for the fuel to lines.
Belts baby! Yea!

If you want to part it out, I want all 4 camshafts, a cam sprocket, and the cold-start injector (+clip & few inches of wire) off the intake. Depending on what it costs, maybe the ignition coil (+clip & few inches of wire), a few fuel injectors (+clip & few inches of wire) , and the Air-flow meter (+clip & few inches of wire).

Re: 1993 Camry V6 for parts

Thanks to all that replied. The problem I have is not having anyone to repair the car in a cost effective way even if I were to purchase the parts from the web sites kindly sent to me in the posts. The trailing arm on the rear wheels is in critical condition and I do not know if simply replacing the bushings would be enough to save me from a complete replacement of the entire wheel setup.

Selling the car for parts means you have to come to the car because I do not know how to remove anything. You want it you gotta come and get it.

Re: 1993 Camry V6 for parts

Based on the images and the links, are you telling me that the trailing arms only need new bushings?

If I did a DIY on removing the radio, would you be able to take it out? I could post it in the General Forum... that is, if somebody hasn't done it yet.

Re: 1993 Camry V6 for parts

I have been looking high and low for the required parts for my car. I have searched using "wishbone suspension" and "trailing arm" with minimal results. There HAS to be a place that sells the parts I am looking for but I have no clue what the parts are actually called or where to buy them other than a Toyota dealer. Do you know what the parts are actually called? The rear of the car does look like a double wishbone ending at a connecting bar on both sides and capped off with bushings. Why is it necessary for me to replace the wishbone portion if all I need is the connecting bar and the bushings? Any ideas?

Re: 1993 Camry V6 for parts

Do you have pics of the 4 cyl 1993 Camry exhaust or are they the same on this type as well as the V6?
