no key...

Hi, Guys! Does anyone knows how I can turn my neon's ignition switch in order to set the gear in neutral? I lost the key and I need to move it outside the garage because the dealer is coming to pick it up...Thanks!!!

Re: no key...

no way that i know of without breaking the ignition. Besides you should be able to give the dealer your VIN number and they should be able to cut you a key without having to tow it anywhere.

Is the ignition stuck or did you lose the keys?

Re: no key...

The only solution that I know of is going to the dealership--and attempting to manually force it could really damage your car. I don't know why the dealer is coning to oick it up-but if you just bought it-there's a chance they might still have a copy of the keys. I've been told that some dealerships hold them in a safe for 60 days in case of repos. (but who know-that could be just a rumor)

Re: no key...

I think if you take off the center console and disconnect the ignition lock cable you should be able to change gears without a key.

Might be easier to get under and see about taking the linkage loose.
