Re: tires

Popular tires for a budget minded consumer would be BFG's, and Michelin's. Its hard to find a decent tire for 16 inch wheels, when your searching for tires under $100.00 each. You might see what Futura has to offer.

Re: tires

Ive ran on Michelin, BFG, Yokohoma, Gilette(current), Goodyear, Firestone Indy500, and a few others for summer use. Ive ran all sorts of different tire sizes ranging from 185-50-15 (or smaller) all the way to 275-65-15's.

street/summer:

I think my car handled best with the 225/60/15 Michelin Pilots in front, and 255/60/15 BF Goodwrenchs in rear. I inflated the tires up to the maximum pressure, with the tires off the ground, and then let the car down and tried it. Best results out of a whole gang of tired ive tried.

Winter:

I take no chances with my T/A. Its a *Firebird*, not a *snowbird* or *waterbird*. In the winter you will catch my Firebird sporting a set of 275/65/15's (truck tires) on my winter wheels(rallyII's).

Nice meaty tread, no problems at all in snow, dirt, sand, nothing. Ive taken my car around a local lake here in OKC where the four wheelers go. I didnt get to crazy with it but I have a feelin the guys in the jeeps were wondering just how far i would go. With tires that big you can broadside a curb with all four tires at a respectable 35MPH without a problem.

I cant remember the actual size my yokohomas were but heres a pic. These are the shortest tires i ran with and i HATED them. Notice the set of 275's in back.Lol. Pic taken about six years ago.

Heres a shot of the 275/65's i run in the winter. Dont mind the smashed front or the bullet holes, shes been through hell. The tire went flat after it was wrecked but inflated she sat pretty high.Pic taken 3 years ago.

Heres the most recent tires on the T/A. Pic taken in march of 06.

Not sure the exact size but im pretty sure they are 225/60/15 in front and 235/65/15 in rear. They do okay but not as good as what ive had on it before.

Re: tires

I ran a set of Pirelli P6000 or P7000 like 4 or 5 years ago on my '94 T/A and I couldnt get them to break loose. Im pretty sure you can get the equivalant in todays pirelli for a little more than $100 a piece from like Tire Rack or something but youll need a machine or access to one to mount them.

Re: tires

Probably not gonna find anything that actually has good traction for $100 a tire.

Fusion are okay if on a budget, along with sumitotoro (that isn't spelled right, and I am WAY too lazy to look it up).

Re: tires

Sumitomo? If those are what you mean then they are owned by Goodyear. They are a good budget tire and have good tread life but dont stick quite as well as a Khumo or Fuzion or something. Thats another decent cheap tire, Khumo, but they dont last long and arent super sticky or anything. Though if youre ona budget of a hundred bucks a tire you cant expect a whole lot more than the above mentioned tires in quality...

Re: tires

Yokohama AVS ES100 anyone had a set of these they are 100 piece. can the local tire guy not install these with his machine? this will be the first time i have changed them, is there something special about how you do it?
also i live in southern oklahoma, not much of a winter so i really don't have to consider that.
