Boost
How much boost do you guys think a stock ka24e could take without getting ported or polished... bored over or replacing the pistons, rings, rods - using the stock injectors.... You know pretty much just picking one up for 2 grand and slapping a turbo manifold, turbo unit, front mount and an exhaust and intake on it... Do you think it could even handle 5 psi. Im in an argument and need some re-assurance... lol - I wouldn't mind talkin to someone who has actaully done this... but anything helps... thanks!

Re: Boost
How many miles on the engine? what condition is the engine in?
Run a compression test to see what condition the engine is in so you can know if u can boost it or not, or if its worth buying a turbo if your engine is going to crap out as soon as u get it...

Re: Boost
Well, the engine is in alright condition... I plan on doing a complete tear down and re-build on the engine and more than likley a few new fuel and cooling attributes from tha 300z. The engine has about 140,000 miles on it but i keep up with her nice, and so did the recent owners. I kinda beat her up on the weekends tho... lol, I've had the compression test in mind for a while now but someone told and explained to me that a compression test is a wast of time and money, which i think otherwise on. I would only run the turbo for a little while because i know it can't handle to power i want it too, and so i dont blow the engine before i get it bored out, new pistons and rings, rods, rocker arms, springs and all those goddies that come under that nicley built engine... Just lookin for a little first time help...

Re: Boost
Compression tests can be acrurate, depends if the person is doing it correctly.
If you really want to know your engine I say do a leak down test, open it up and start from there

Re: Boost
^^^ hes right...if you want to boost it before cracking it open, comp test it, if the #'s come out good, throw some 370cc injectors on it, and get a SAFC to tune them...then slap your turbo stuff on there, (t25 recommended) and just run stock 7psi thru the wastegate.

Re: Boost
If you're planning on rebuilding and boring it out... why dont you just wait? believe me im ready to slap a turbo on anything right now im craving for boost so bad... but if the car matters and you want to do it right, why dont you wait it out? wont it be more worth it? in this case the engine will be in better condition and will be able to handle all of the extra air almost indefinetly. whereas if you just slap on a turbo youre risking losing it all. i think waiting it out would be the best idea, but thats me.
good luck man
