What's the difference?

What's the difference between a trans am and a firebird?

Most 4th gen TA's are always v8's where as the Firebird, unless a Formula, is a v6. The TA has a taller spoiler. Those are just the most basic that I know of.

A Trans Am is a trim level of a Firebird.

So all Trans Am's are Firebirds, but not all Firebirds are Trans Am's.

At least for the 4th gens.

I am pretty sure it has been that way since GM took over Pontiac.
