Exclamation Strange Electrical Problem

Hi! I'm new here - I'll start by thanking people, the ones who put forums like this together and the ones who help with answers!1989 Chevy, 4.3, stick, no A/C, no P/W, no P/L - very base truck. Junk yard motor - probably - mileage shows 80,000 but probably low.Problem: Engine starts but runs awful. Using left turn signal will stall engine unless I step on the gas - using right turn signal speeds engine up! Headlights/Parking lights stall engine. Heater blower stalls engine. Etc.Here's what I have done: Replaced ignition switch - just because. Change out battery for known good one. Took alternatoer out of circuit (No Change), pulled stop switch fuse - pulled headlight switch - pulled gauge package - pulled radio fuse (didn't think that would help - but who knows). Pulled left taillight off - I get 32 Mv to ground on TS wire with everything off. Checked and cleaned every ground I could find. Pulled most of my hair out and said a lot of bad words!Anybody got a clue where the ignition/fuel circuit can connect to the accessory circuits - or where they are close enough to cause interference? All help very much appreciated!

Re: Strange Electrical Problem

I would take the altanator off and have it tested. Also changing the battery cables is a good start. They do go bad with age. This is were I would start let us know were you are at after that. Good luck.

Re: Strange Electrical Problem

you must have multiable issues, but all rt there under the steering wheel is the blinker relay and the 12 volts for you distributor comes from under there too. Now does it stall when you turning or just using blinker period?Could something be pinch in the steering column, You got the same luck I got.

Re: Strange Electrical Problem

Basic Issues such as "just because" is the reason for your troubles...the ignition switch you replaced has to be adjusted correctly to allow all the instrumentations to be correct, in other words more simply put...the ignition switch is adjusted incorrectly/misaligned. Been there, done that, before. and learned that electrical fires do not go out easy when a fire starts because of wires burning....years ago has taught me that to mark it before removing it. Good luck
