Question 95 Cutlass Supreme Needs "Bottom" Engine Work

i have a 95 cutlass supreme. coolant leaked into my oil in january so i had engine work done. the tech told me it was a cracked head - ($1300) last wednesday the car starting running "rough" and seemed like it wanted to cut off. on friday, the oil light came on and the car wouldn't accelerate. no oil pressure...

NOW the (same) tech is saying i need "bottom" engine work.

i'm over it. i can't afford to put more money in the car (i paid $2000 for it 2 years ago) my question is - what's a fair price to sell it for?

Re: 95 Cutlass Supreme Needs "Bottom" Engine Work

Unfortunately you won't be able to sell the car for very much money if it's not running, you're like the people that bought my 94 Cutlass and the engine locked up on them after 8 days of ownership, stuck between a rock and a hard place. The only thing you can do is fix it and sink more money into the car. If the car is clean and worthy of repair then you'll have to dig up the funds to do that. Otherwise the only other option is to attempt to find someone to buy the car as is, with the engine needing work, such as a salvage yard, then you're looking at getting a few hundred, and I mean a few, like two or three hundred max. One other option is to trade it to a dealer on another car, they may be willing to deal if sales are slow where you are, they can repair and sell easier than you, but be prepared, they will likely only give you a "few hundred" as well. Good Luck!

With a bad engine, more likely, less than a hundred!

just sell it as a parts car or to a current supreme owner....someone out there is bound to want it. i found my 95 and bought it for 350 because the transmission was messed up so i put the transmission from my old car into the 95....i'm sure someone who's like me will be in your area looking for another cutlass supreme
