1997 Park Avenue Radio
Hey all,
I drive a 1997 Park Avenue. I have a stock radio with steering wheel controls that works great. I am thinking of upgrading my sound system with the addition of an amp and a couple of subwoofers. In order to do this installation and receive the best sound quality/controls possible, I need to replace the stock radio with an aftermarket version. My questions: can I still use the stock radio controls on the steering wheel, and will the antenna for the radio still work considering my antenna is built into the rear windshield. Thanks for the help! -David |

Re: 1997 Park Avenue Radio
I do know that the radio controls can be re-used on an aftermarket radio. This issue came up quite a while back but the poster never submitted exactly how he managed to get it to work....so trial and error for you
![]() As far as the antenna goes, I don't see an issue with it being built in to the glass...it still picks up a radio signal and still should have a coax wire running to the radio.

Re: 1997 Park Avenue Radio
Steering wheel controls are for the Gm Delco radios only. The car antenna connection and aftermarket radio antenna connection will more than likely need an adapter to joint them together. Good luck!

Re: 1997 Park Avenue Radio
Holaday, check out cardomain.com's audio store, I once saw a conversion kit so factory steering wheel controls could funtion with an aftermarket system. It's been a few months, so hopefully it's still there!

Re: 1997 Park Avenue Radio
Sorry, I did make a call and was told no, but after seeing the other posts I checked Loekee's deal and found them. Looks like you have to have a remote for your stereo, a Steering Wheel Audio controller interface, and your set.

Re: 1997 Park Avenue Radio
Thanks,
Yeah I checked out the setup that I could use at cardomain.com. I was suprised to see how expensive things were. Another question: I want an aftermarket radio to enable me to have more controls over my music, is there a cheaper or better alternative than buying an aftermarket radio and a steering wheel control interface setup kit for my new radio? |
