Dead gauges .... speed, gas and temp all read zero no matter what.

I lent my car to a friend who had it for the weekend ... when I got it back I noticed that the gauges weren't working. My friend said he doesn't know what happened.

We already checked all the fuses and replaced a few anyway with no results. Is this a computer problem or something a little simpler.

speed, gas and temp all read zero no matter what.

The cluster, does that mean the entire display panel? Will that change the milage readout on the car?

yes the whole instument cluster. its easy. pop the top of the dash of and there are i believe 2 screws holdin it in. now the 98 99 just pop onto the clips the earlier you have to pull the clips out of the back of the cluster.

yes that will change the mileage. if you get one from a junkyard it may have around the same miles. but there is now gauruntee it will work

If the above post doesn't work for you, get a used cluster and swap in your odometer to keep your milage correct. It isn't difficult at all, just some T15 and T9 torx bits.

Nice point on the odometer! Especially important ifyou ever decided to sell the car---you don't want anything looking fishy. Not that anyone here would ever sell their beloved Neon And I think the guys are right on---it's most likely your cluster....but hey at least it's one of the easier things to fix.
