fuel pressure?

I noticed recently that when my car is off the fuel pressure drops about 20 psi in about 6 hours and then over night it pretty much looses all the pressure. it seems to be running funny also, like a slight hesitation around 2200 rpm here and there. i'm thinking it may be a leaky injector. at the moment i have SD and 19lb injectors. also i am doing a mass air swap very soon, i have the 9AL computer and harness so far. now since i may have to get new injectors can i use 24lb injectors with a 70mm cobra mass air meter with the 9AL computer?

Re: fuel pressure?

May be a leaking injector, could be the pump.

Re: fuel pressure?

If you think a leaky injector is the case, do a cylinder balance test through the car's ECU. Also, might be worth while to get a fuel pressure gauge to moniter the FP while driving and under load at different rpms.

Also, thread moved to tech.

Re: fuel pressure?

i have a fuel pressure gauge mounted on the windshield cowl. i reads steady through out the rpm ranges. even at 2200 when it hessitates. it just seems to loose all the pressure overnight and about 20 lbs in about 6 hours.

When you say hessitates, what do you mean exactly? Are you holding steady in one gear, and it feels like the car is kinda bucking, or is it while your accelerating it feels sluggish? Any other issues associated with this problem?

Re: fuel pressure?

it hessitates around 2200 rpm when i'm holding steady in usually 2nd gear and 3rd. but the fuel pressure gauge doesn't move around when it does that it. it feels like its bucking or a slight miss, but it doesn't do it all the time. would something in the distributer like the pickup coil do that? the dist. is stock but the TFI is new.

I had the same problem a while back, ended being the coolant temp sensor. Replaced it and the problem solved. The bucking was bad at times, and not so bad at others.
