Re: Noob
Recently purchased, second-hand, 1999 Toyota Camry LE. Having problems with door locks. Must use remote to open doors in order to deactivate anti-theft system. Using the remote opens all doors and does deactivate the anti-theft system. If I key open the driver door the engine will not start. I want to only open driver's door and if that is done with the key (instead of the remote) then the engine will not start. How, for safety reasons, can I open only driver's door and still start the engine? Help!

Re: Security Alarm Problem
Chances are you have an aftermarket security system installed on the car from the previous owner/dealer. There is a way to do what is called "priority unlock" which unlocks the driver's door on the first press of the unlock button, and then the rest of the doors on the second press. It involves first: finding out what type of security system is on the car; second: re-wiring the unlock output and installing a relay. Then, you can unlock just the driver's door and start the car. If you've never done this sort of thing before, I'd find the nearest reputable car audio/security install shop and have them do it. Most places will do it for about an hour's worth of labor.
