1997 Park Avenue Starting Hard

My 1997 PA Ultra turns over when trying to start but it takes like 20-25 engine revolutions to get it started. The weird thing is if I turn off the ignition after four or five turns of the engine and then try starting it again its fires right up. After it starts the engine runs great as usual. It just takes a long time to start. I had it checked for engine codes but there aren't any that comes up. Does anyone have any ideas on this problem?

Re: 1997 Park Avenue Starting Hard

You could have a weak fuel pump or pressure regulator leak. You need to have the "prime" pressure tested. When the ignition key is turned on, the fuel pump energizes for 2-sec, to “prime” the system for starting. You might try turning the key off/on two (2) times prior to starting. Usually, the additional cycle of the pump will give enough pressure to start the car; however, this is not a long-term fix.

Itried what you said to do and it starts right up. I sounds like a fuel pump. Are they difficult to change out?
