Can't find the drain plug

I can't find the drain plug on the engine block for the coolant. I have the diagram and it's making me dizzy. Could you direct me to it or do you have a picture that would help? Thanks

Re: Can't find the drain plug

Have you ever drained your coolants before? The diagram of the engine shows a coolant drain plug on the left side(?) of the block but I don't know where it is. The book and the FSM tell me to drain it from the block after I drain it from the radiator.

What are these guys talking about?

If you've taken apart the engine without draining all of the coolant, what could happen? I can't find this spot and I need to start working.

Re: Can't find the drain plug

dude it doesnt matter. if you take apart the engine, just put it on a stand and drain it into a bucket when you work on it. im assuming thats why your wondering. when you rebuild, you need to clean the parts anyways.

Re: Can't find the drain plug

I'm just changing the timing, and trying to follow steps mind you. Anyway, I got the valve cover off. It was too humid to work outside today.

I'm just still wondering why no one knows where this plug really is. You never saw it before?

Re: Can't find the drain plug

I changed the timing chain twice, like 2 years before on a friends 240 and a year ago in my car (240). I just drained from the radiator, everything worked out fine =)

Re: Can't find the drain plug

The drain plug is under the manifold. If you are doing engine work, pulling the head, etc. You'll want to drain it from the block. Draining it from the radiator only will get most of the systems water out but the coolant sitting in the engine will spill all over the place later on. The plug is on the block under tha exhaust manifold.
