2004 Steering column question

Here is the situation. A friend of mine has a 2004 grand marquis and his wife was complaining that the ignition switch was hard to turn. She had to use both hands to start the car. This car is still under warranty so they took it to the local dealership who replaced the ignition cylinder. The ignition was still stiff and now we notice that the column does not lock (we have all driven this car and we can't remember with certainty that it did lock). Another trip to the dealership, the service manager checked the car and stated at the time that "the column should lock". They had the car all day and have told my buddy that this year of grand marquis (2004) is not equiped with a column lock. If this is true then this is the first ford product that I have seen without a lock. Does anybody know either way? Incidentally, the ignition is still stiff to turn.
Thanks

Re: 2004 Steering column question

Go in to the parts counter at the dealer and tell them you need a new steering column lock. Ask the parts person to show you a picture, after he does this, call the service manager in and have the parts person show him the picture. Then tell the service manager you want the car fixed, if it doesn't get fixed, contact Ford and tell them about the service you have received at this dealership.
