91 escort gt Overdrive?

I' ve got a 91 escort gt with an automatic, today it wouldnt shift into overdrive, lever would go into overdrive but the car wouldnt shift, any easy stuff to check?

Transaxle fluid is the very first thing to check.

checked fluid, level looked good though i did see a couple of bubbles on the dipstick? i should add the OD worked yesterday evening...

When is the last time the fluid and filter were changed? If not recently, take it to a shop and have them flush it out... they have a machine that will suck out all the old fluid, run some cleaners through, and fill it back up. They will also put a new filter on at the same time.
It's old enough... the inside could just be getting plugged up.

the tranny was overhauled 12/13/05 and they replaced the torque converter, the place that did it isnt in business anymore....go figure somuch for warenty...car runs in reverse and forward gears just wont kick into OD, such a PITA, i was lookin arround under the car and noticed i need some new trany mounts the ruber is shot though i dont think that would stop it from overdrive, havein the fluid flushed is a good idea have to do that, any other ideas?
