Angry 1996 Grand Am Electric Problems

Hope you see this soon, I have the same exact problem. I would like to know how you are coming along with your repair and any new info as to what has caused your problem. My problem started like this...I Bought the "Car", a 1996 Grand Am SE 4 dr V6 and for a week it drove great then one night, BAM the ABS light comes on. Then BAM the battery light comes on. I thought nothing of it so on my way to work the next morning the Car shuts off and leaves me stranded. I got a jump and made it to work. When I attempted to go home the Car left me stranded again, a jump could not help so I towed it to my house. Suspecting it was the alternator I got a new one. Attempted to go to work and BAM left stranded again another tow to my house. I then got a new battery because the battery I had was bad too so they say. So now with a new battery and new alternator I should be in good shape but No life cant be that good. So now the ABS, BRAKE, and BATTERY light all come on now. I did find that a fuse went out in the Engine Compartment Fuse Block (ERLS Fuse) and when replaced it went out again. Another fuse went out too in the Instrument Panel Fuse Block (INT LPS Fuse) I replaced it and it has not blown yet. I also noticed that a wire from the starter was burnt and when i touched it, it came apart. I rigged it back together but still have the battery light come on. I put a higher amp fuse in the ERLS fuse and it has not blown yet. I still have the battery light come on. I have arranged for some electrical mechanic to come to my house to hopefully find a solution to this problem I am having. If you or anyone else can maybe shed some light on this issue PLEASE reply! Also I notice that it seems that when I take my foot off the brake it feels like it is getting stuck or something probably another future problem I might encounter. Somebody please HELP!
Thank You!

Re: 1996 Grand Am Electric Problems

Same problem here but everyone is telling me it's a short in the wire but it could be anywhere, a sensor or connection somewhere...

Re: 1996 grandam brakes?

yes you both probly hav a sort somewhere, and thats the trouble with electrical problems, finding them.

If any alterations to the factory wiring has been done, I'd sugest starting with the altered wiring. :22yikes:

The draging brake pedal could be a sign the brake booster is going bad, most brake shops should be able to properly diagnose that for you.

Good Hunting !!
