NO REAR Defrost need major help

Hello too everyone who reads this message, I have a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire,

I have no rear defrost. I push the button, the light comes on with a click, but the window does not defog. There is power going back there, and across the window. It is just simply not defogging! I will welcome any and all information on how to get this problem fixed,

thank you to all.

carefully inspect every filiment line for a break... then check the connection onto the plugs back there.

Re: NO REAR Defrost need major help

I have the same problem. '96 Sunfire....light comes on...button clicks....nothin' doin'.
I've figured out a fix to this problem. I use my side mirrors to look behind me.
Not the best solution....but it's all I can come up with.

Re: NO REAR Defrost need major help

My doesn't work either and smoke actually starts to come out of the dash, so I know I have a short and something is burning.

How do you replace the module for the defroster?

I saw the part hanging out of the dash at a junkyard and it looks like the whole climate control assemly and wires are all one piece. I hope to not have to cut and splice all those wires. How frustrating... Any suggestions before I tear into the dash????
