Basic Power Mods

OK, I’ve decided to take the mod plunge. I just bought an enclosed cargo trailer and want more pullen ponies (and a wee bit more ummmph, for heaven’s sake).

But…I want my X to be smog legal in Calif. Ay, there’s the rub. I’m looking for Airbox, Intake, Exhaust Header, and Exhaust Pipe mods that fit the smog legal criteria.

So, anyone have a clue on this stuff? I’ve been looking around but have yet to find mention of the legalities, etc. Any tips, pointers, leads, yep, would be mucho appreciated.

Thx!

Re: Basic Power Mods

Only one set of headers, not smog legal.

Re: Basic Power Mods

K&N and Volant (sp?) both make FIPK's for the Xterra, plus there are several exhaust options. How much improvement that will give you has never been measured beyond "I feel more pickup off the line" kind of stuff (at least that I know of. Maybe someone did a Dyno.) All are smog legal.

Also replace your spark plugs early. They're pretty crappy looking even before Nissan says to pull 'em.
