Tamiya P2000 the same as other grits?

Before I go outand buy some sand paper and Tamiya compounds, I want to know if P2000 is the same as 2000 grit because I see people always saying to use 2000 grit to take out light orange peel. I checked here https://www.micro-surface.com/default.cfm?page_id=174 and it says P2000 is the same as less than 1000 grit. What is up with that?

I also searched and came up with nothing.

i belive 2000p is the sAME at 2000 grit

Each company's way of calculating the grit is somewhat different. I've reed somewhere that Tamiya's 2000 is around micro mesh's 3000-4000.

IF thats true then I'm gonna use the P2000 to take out the light orange peel and follow up with Tamiya Fine, Finish, and wax.

Tamiya's sand paper should be complying to the Japan Industrial Standard 6001, and from the chart, 2000 grit of the JIS seems almost the same as P2500 of FEPA/ISO6344.

Thanks for the help, but I picked up the PolishingStiX because they ran out of Tamiya's sandpaper and they ran out of Tamiya fine and finish compound. Guess I'ma have to use my Scratch X and Tamiya Wax.
