Check gages light on 1992 SE

Ok the check gages light will not go off when the car starts, sometimes goes off after 2 min or more. The charging gage reads 13.5 the oil presure is at same spot as always, coolant temp 180 to 200. Started car up then it died, never done this before, but it started right back up then this started any ideas?

Re: Check gages light on 1992 SE

The 88-94 W-bodies had an issue with the cluster tripping the "check guages" light for no reason. It requires the cluster to be sent to an authorized repair facility to be fixed. It's irritating, but won't affect anything.

Re: Check gages light on 1992 SE

Well now the car is idling between 1000 and 500 rpms at the same time then it dies. Also loading up real bad, and on top of this my son says there is something leaking so I check, and the rack in the steering is poring fluid. Seals are accually hanging out. I have never had any luck with GM products why should I start now. Goes into the shop on Tue.

Re: Check gages light on 1992 SE

I used to own a 91 GP SE and the check gage light came on for no reason and stayed on. Finally after about a year I went behind the cluster and crushed the light, solved that irritating problem. lol
