92 Escort 1.9 L motor making a banging noise oil light blinking
I think I may need a new motor? The motor makes a loud banging noise, also the oil light will blink the check coolant light comes on, and last but not least smoke is comming out of the valve cover. Any ideas? All fluilds are correct

You may not need a new motor... but you do need to make some serious repairs...
With the little info you gave I'd be willing to bet you lost a valve seat. Either get it in to a shop or if you have the means, pull of the head and have a look. You could possibly need a new piston, but definately will need head work. |
