Re: online poker a felony

how are they able to enforce that, some sort of ISP address checker? and i hate how the government is making laws about how to live your life. if u want to gamble $20 online so what, that's your deal. or $20,000, that's still your deal.

Re: online poker a felony

That's the best part, you are supposed to report your winnings on your income tax forms. So if you do, it's an admission of guilt, and if you don't it's tax evasion. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Might as well just go to Vegas... you can get married while standing in a Buffet line and playing a slot machine.

Vegas... the king of multitasking.

Moved to Politics/Current Events.

The article writer has it right....Washington State seems to want to keep all gambling taxes in their state monitored facilities.

Well if I played the lottery and did online gambling I guess I'd care.

I like to be there though when I put my money down.

Re: online poker a felony

I'm pretty sure they track it via the credit card companies. Obviously Visa would have a record of your card being used to purchase "something" online from another country repeatedly (especially if the poker site uses an easily identifiable name on your bill.)

I personally find the crackdown kind of funny, but that's probably because I find poker to be one of the dumbest, most boring games EVER -- and thus couldn't care less what they do with it. That being said, if someone wants to gamble their money away, all the power to them. However, the tackling of this issue also directly ties in with gambling laws, both intra- and inter-state, so to allow it to stay legal would continue to violate existing laws already on the books.

Most banks/credit cards don't allow you to put money down on 'gambling sites'. So most players use a third party site called Netteller (kinda like Paypal) to do their transactions.
