Opinions for audio

Well the time has finally come. I will be getting my new Kenwood head unit on next Tuesday and now it's time to replace ALL of the stock speakers. I am looking to find out what everyone has and how they like them.

I have a few I am looking at so I just need more options. Here is what is going in my Blazer:

Head unit : Kenwood MP-5028
Subs: 2 12" Kicker Solo-Barics (old round model)

Sub Amp : Rockford Fosgate BD 500.1 Mono

Capacitator : Lightning Audio 1 Farad (if I can get the positive terminal tapped)

Now here is a couple of the speakers I am looking at.

6 1/2" : Audiobahn AS65Q 3-way
Kicker 05KS65 2-way
Kenwood KFC1689ie 3-way

6"x9" : Audiobahn AS69Q 3-way
Polk ES692A 2-way

I really like the Audiobahn just for the fact that they have removeable tweeters, therefore I can mount them in a different place and get bet sound.

But like I said I am just looking to see what everyone has and how they like it. Thanks for the help

Re: Opinions for audio

i have kicker speakers in the front and rear doors and pioneers in the dash. the pioneers have great sound quality and were inexpensive. i like the kickers but the sound quality could be a little better. they actually put out a decent amount of base for a component speaker. i have herd orthers recomend infinity speakers but they are a bit on the pricey side.

Ported or sealed?

Caps don't do crap, upgrade your electrical system before THINKING about a cap. If someone at a best buy or someplace told you you needed one, don't listen. Do the "Big 3" first, upgrade to a yellow top or a higher quality battery.

Audiobling is basically on the bottom end of the audio foodchain, get some higher quality components. A component set usually is a 6.5" mids and a tweets using a passive crossover system. I would reccomend components from CDT, I played around a little with the EF-61 set and really liked the sound out of them. Don't power them off of headunit power, amp them.

Hey thanks for the input.

No one at Best buy or anywhere told me to bet a my cap. I have had it since I bought the amp. I got tired of the dimming lights and not being able to run any acc. so I bought it on my own. Solved my problem.

The Solo-barics are in seperate sealed boxes. I am going to get a new Q-logic box when I find one I actually like or I might even go custom with my local shop.

I am now looking at a set of MB Quart 6 1/2's for the front doors. I have always liked the sound they have. I am still up in the air about the 6X9's for the side panel though. I also need to look for 4X6's fo rthe dash as well.

Re: Opinions for audio

Since you're serious about this, I'd suggest getting a HD Radio head unit. Just like TV, Radio is going HD. A lot of stations have switched, but haven't advertised it yet. It's all over the radio in Detroit. JVC has a good unit, JVC KD-HDR1, which runs about $250.

When looking at other HD Radios, you have to make sure it has a built in receiver and not just "HD Radio Ready."

Re: Opinions for audio

I second BlazerLT, I've got the infinity references (4x6 plate in dash, 6.5 in doors) and they're great. You can get them for a reasonable price on eBay, just look out for rip-offs. Take a look at the kappa series too...

Q-logic sucks. You can build your own box for under a hundred bucks. And it will be better than a q-logic. Just do components in the doors/kicks. Dash speakers are NOT going to help imaging at all.
