97 cutlass security light runs for a few then dies

im trying to help out a friend with a 97 cutlass she was
driving the car when it died got it towed back home sat for about 2 months i went over there to get it running but during the whole time it was running the security light was on )blinking( i dont want her driving it untill i can figure this out dont need it dieing on her again any ideas? im guessing the vat system is dieing

Please do not post the same issue across more than one Oldsmobile subforum. I noticed you had one in the 88 subforum in which I deleted. The same post is in the Cutlass forum and you should give people there a chance to respond. It sounds like a relatively easy Passlock problem. There is probably more expertise in the Cutlass, Alero and Grand Am forums since they are all GM "N" body cars.
