Exclamation ->Street racing sentence...

I just got out of court today... they took 250 of my dollars and told me to get a hearing from the transportation cabinet in Frankfort, (ky) to tell them why they should let me keep my license. It doesn't look good, but i get to keep my license for a while longer at least. The judge said that they just may put me on probation "if" i haven't been on probation for a while... which hasn't been very long at all---2 months maybe. They took away a cut of my money and my insurance will probably kill me... there goes my supercharging upgrade plans...

Sorry that you got hit so hard. Hopefully you will get to keep your license. I would throw myself on the mercy of the court and see what happens. Agree not to race on the street again. Not a very good idea anyway. Take the car to the local drag strip. They have classes for street machines. A lot safer and cheaper too!

Re: ->Street racing sentence...

$250 is CHEAP. The fine in Michigan is $1500-up, if they decide not to take your car. Then you get 6 points, and may get you for 3 more if they decide to tack wreckless driving on to the drag-racing ticket. Top that off with quadrupling your insurance rates, and it gets real expensive fast. That's why I agree with Lynn, keep the racing to the track.

Re: ->Street racing sentence...

You would have be in better shape if you didn't have any probation or any other traffic/criminal violation on your record. Then you could say you made a mistake for the first time and the court may be more leneint.

Do you know what they did to the other party you were racing with?

OUch, that sucks man...
Here in Ontario they are trying to pass legislation that will allow an officer to impound a car and revoke a license on the spot if your caught street racing. A little drastic, but some people just don't get the hint...
