98 SE- locks,pwr windows,sunroof,radio all blown

Hi all-

Have a strange one....Wife went to start car the other day and the radio came on, then blinked out. Then she couldn't open the windows, use the door locks, sunroof, or wipers- all dead...and the best part of all- Car would NOT move out of PARK with the key in and running. We got it to move by putting the key in, shifting to N, the starting the car and shifting to D, but the big problem is no brake lights either. I checked all fuses and they look fine. Where else do all these items intersect? I'm at my wits end! Oh- and I went to check it this past weekend and I put the key in, the radio came on for like 10 seconds, then winked out, nothing else worked, the car still wouldn't shift out of Park, and there was a clicking noise up in the dash, behind the steer wheel, but a little lower.... HELP PLEASE!!! -Dan

The lack of brake lights is probably the cause for not being able to shift out of park. The other symptoms don't sound like they may be related to the not-so-uncommon problem of a faulty Transmission Range Switch (TRS). Search the forum for TRS, Transmission Range, and Brake switch.
