does anyone know an easy way to disable a fuel pump on a 98 s10 w/ 2.2?
i have tried the fuses under the hood- but they disable more than just the fuel pump. thanks |

check your fuse/relay box in the engine compartment.

Re: how to disable fuel pump
probably a stupid question...why do you want to disable it?

Re: how to disable fuel pump
i am doing a professional fuel injection cleaning in which you prime the system with fuel and then using the fuel pressure test port, you start the car using a fuel injection cleaner that taps in at the fuel pressure test port- cleaner goes directly to the injectors. to do this you must disable the fuel pump- on many gm cars there is a single fuse to do this. on my s10, if you pull the fuse under the hood, you disable more than the fuel pump. i need to know what i am looking for behind the glove box that looks like a relay???

Re: how to disable fuel pump
no luck- not behind glovebox. the one under the hood in the fuse box is similar but controls more than just the fuel pump.

Re: how to disable fuel pump
i checked my 98 s10 with a 4.3 and it is a minature 4 pin relay that only controls the pump. it is located in the engine compartment center fuse relay box next to the abs unit. the fuse/relay cover should tell you what the relay controls. a 4 pin relay cannot control more than 1 devise.
