Tranny Question

What is the best manual tranny you can get for a 95 SL2 that will bolt up pretty easily, cuz i have heard that the older ones like mine are pretty weak.

Re: Tranny Question

any manual trans from an s-series will bolt up fine. sohc cars though had longer gears which would bog the car down, so you need one from a dohc. and since you dont have obd2, you can get any year you want from 93-02. but in 99 or 00 the dohc trans had a couple gears get longer, so preferably look for like 93-98.

now about the trans being weak is all wrong. the trans are very strong. the differential is the issue in any of them. the pin is held by a rolled piece of steel which will smash and break and let the diff pin fly out. what we do is weld the diff pin so it cant move and destroy the retainer pin. this saves trans.

if your nearby, or even want to ship the trans to me, i can tear it apart and have the pin welded.
