My car is at my parents house like most of you know 120 miles away, well the engine is going in soon!!! its all done tranny hooked up, engine all clean and ready to go.
My questions are..... 1. I went and got the 1g thermostat and the only one you can get is 195, the stock 2g is 180 will affect my computer? I have DSMLINK can i adjust that if i have to? 2. Do i need a 1g lower radiator hose since i put a 1g head on my block? 3. Will the 2g upper radiator hose still work? Just a few questions i have answered when i get back up to my parents house hopefuly this weekend. But not looking good for this weekend tho ![]() My daughter wants me to go to 6 flags with her with girlscouts, so most likely thats what i will be doing saturday. So it might have to be next weekend before my car is screaming Thanx alot guys for the help

Re: I have a few questions that need to be answered plz!!!
Only one I can help you with is the thermostat. DSMLink does not control that, it's all mechanical. Look around at some more stores and get the right thermostat. I don't remember what the stock temp was, but get that, or even lower. The ECU starts to pull timing if things get too hot.

Stock temp for 1g is 195, and stock temp for 2g is 180. I went everywhere looking for a lower one than 195 in a 1g and no one can bget one. Even the dealer. So will the 1g 190 be ok? Hopefully kevin can answer this one. Thanx alot crunch for the help

Re: I have a few questions that need to be answered plz!!!
190 should be fine. IIRC the ECU won't pull timing until 210. I would make sure the cooling system is in really good shape first though (pressure test, etc.)
Sorry I don't know much about the 6bolt swaps. I'm learning about them now though, as it looks more and more like I will be joining the 6bolt in a 2g club soon.

Re: I have a few questions that need to be answered plz!!!
I think you need 1g radiator hoses. The fans come on at 210 deg, the thermistat won't be an issue. If you want you can set the coolant offset value via Dsmlink to anything you want. if you put -20 in the offset your fans will come on at 190 but will show 210 on the logs. The ECU will also pull the approprate timing, so remember to add it back in if your looking for full advance.

Re: I have a few questions that need to be answered plz!!!
Coolant temps of 206 pull 1 degrees, 226 or something like that pulls 2 degrees. Going from memory here
![]() I'm not sure the 195 tstat will be a problem. These cars run at 200-205 all day long, so either tstat should be wide open at that point. If it's a problem, and you can't find a better tstat (there is a 180 option, but it's not the stock part listed for the 1Gs, it's some other car. Searching on the dsm specific forums should reveal some info), drill a hole in it. Many poeple do this to get the car to run ~10 degrees cooler. You'll have to do some searching on that one too, since I have never tried it myself. Lower radiator hose will have to be 1g (front water pipe puts it in a completely different location, usually have to cut the counter weight off the shifter). Upper hose is still 2g I believe, since the water neck is in the same place roughly, but the other end depends on the radiator being used, which is still 2g.

So i take it that counter weight is worthless anyways? Will i fell any difference in my shift? Also one other thing is there a drain on the bottom of the tranny? Where to fill it, i see a spot ontop of the tranny where i could after pulling a little rubber cap off. And how do i know how full to put it? Just a few more questions to be covered so when i get to my parents house i can just do all this shit drop the engine in and go hopefully lol

Re: I have a few questions that need to be answered plz!!!
I didn't notice any difference without the counterweight.
That rubber plug on top is actually a vent. The fill plug is halfway up on the "front" side of the tranny (radiator side), 17mm head. Fill the tranny until the fluid spills out of that hole, let it run out almost till it stops (takes forever for it to completely stop, not worth it for 1oz difference). Transfer case works the same way.

Cap them off, remove them and cap the TB, whatever it takes.
