Mis-read Odometer?

The odometer reads 178609, with me this far? good, and my dad's been saying it's really 117k. Meanwhile I'm fretting an engine rebuild and my dad's saying I read the odometer wrong. the digit '9' is on a white backing which means a tenth of a mile?

Re: Mis-read Odometer?

If so then the car has only 17k miles on it.

Is that why the odometer reading said exempt? So my car really only has 117k on it.

Re: Mis-read Odometer?

It is 117K miles.

Rolled over once, don't have the numbers to show it.

Re: Mis-read Odometer?

my odometer has 7 digits....6 for the miles and 1 for the 10th of a mile.....mine has 144k and it read 1440007 for example..the 7 is the 10th of a mile....i think camaros newer that 1990 will have the 7 digits...mine is a 91 rs

if your camaro is the 87 like in your picture then yes you have 117k on it.....but after 1990 it would actually read 117000....its pretty easy..if you have 6 digits on your odometer just add a 1 in front of it....if you have 7 then thats your actual milage....just remember im counting the 10th of a mile digit too...

Re: Mis-read Odometer?

The way your car looks in that pic in your sig, there is no way that it went over 200k...

Re: Mis-read Odometer?

there is no way to tell how many times it rolled over...you can make a pretty good guess considering the condition of the vehicle....does it look/feel/sound like it has 200k on it?
