1992 taurus wanting to die at stoplights
I can't figure this out for anything, 3.0 auto taurus, start it up take off, come to a stop light, it acts like it wants to keep going, it will shake, and shutter, until it kills the engine, or I put it into nuetral. then it straightens up. if I drive it and put into neutral everytime I come to a stop it runs just fine. Has anyone experienced this? The speedometer acts funny when this is happening, sometimes I know the car has to be running faster than it says, and then when I come to a stoplight, it will read maybe 20 mph when it might be just barely rolling to a stop, then the needle just drops.
let me know what you think thanks tony |

Sounds like maybe your IAC is a little gummed up. But since it plays with the electronics when it does it, does the battery light come on by any chance?

Re: 1992 taurus wanting to die at stoplights
Yes the battery light comes on, when it is at a stop light trying to die, One other thing I forgot to mention, there has been a couple of times that I would be drive down the highway running 50 mph or so, let off the gas to slow down to like 45 mph, and go to step on the gas and the motor would not rev up at all, it was like the the motor was stuck at an idle, it would not rev up at all no matter where you held the throttle.
It drives me crazy the way this car acts, because it is in really good shape and runs really good when it wants to. I can drive it 200 miles straight and it will only act up when you come to a stop. thanks for the advice. |

Re: 1992 taurus wanting to die at stoplights
Tony, I had a similar problem with my 94 Sable. Turned out to be a rotted vaccum line.
