1. The things you fir back at the missles are flares.

2. They don't blow the missles up, the flares are hit by the missles & they blow up.

3. The missles are heat-seeking.

Im not sure about PS2 version but on the PC I was able to turn thrusters from hover to forward using NUM pad. Youll see the thruster move from pointing down to totally behind you.... goes fast
