4.0 liter --> V8 Engine swap
i was just wondering if anyone would know if there are major obstacles in swapping a 4 liter IL 6, to a 318 V8? and also the same about swapping a 5 spd manual tranny for the automatic that i have now?

Re: 4.0 liter --> V8 Engine swap
From everything I've read here, you're probably better off getting a different vehicle, unless you're into modifications. First, I don't think the manual trans will handle the power of the V8, so you're looking at a healthy amount of modification there to start with. Have a look at the Wrangler forum, and you'll see what kind of stuff you're in for.

Re: 4.0 liter --> V8 Engine swap
I also am looking to do the same thing to my cherokee within the next year or so. This link helps clear up some questions you may have. Something I thought was interesting was that a swap to a 5.6L Hemi only adds 57 or so lbs. according to the July 2005 issue of Four Wheeler Magazine. They put it in a Wrangler, the teal J project.

Re: 4.0 liter --> V8 Engine swap
I'm definatly into custom mods, thats all i'v done with every car i'v owned so far and i'm only just turning 19. i'v modified everythin from hyundai accents to full size ford 4x4 trucks. thanks for that site it might end up clearing up some questions. if there are any more suggestions feel free to lay them out.
