Re: 3000GT...good for drifting?!?!?!?!

you know something I think that guy is really smart.
seriously! he knows the car cant drift but F&F 3 is about to come out and with it a new breed of drift-happy ricers will follow.
I bet that add will help him sell the car. Ricers will fall for it.

Re: 3000GT...good for drifting?!?!?!?!

I love how his 3 main selling points are

1) supra in the title
2) good for drifting
3) 4 wheel disc brakes

at least that car is going to a better home.

Re: 3000GT...good for drifting?!?!?!?!

Give 3 weeks and we'll see that car posted on "wrecked exotics" with a story next to it about how some kid was trying to drift in a parking lot and ended up wrapping it around a pole.

Re: 3000GT...good for drifting?!?!?!?!

im actually kindof excited for the new F&F to come out. not for the movie really but more of the aftermath. after every F&F i get revved on by the funniest looking cars like sonatas with wings, civics with wiper leds etc. Now that I have a car that'll send em back to their mamas cryin' im kindof excited

Re: 3000GT...good for drifting?!?!?!?!

June 16th according to Maxim magazine.
So I just went on a poker rampage and won about $800 in teh last 7 hours, so I'm feeling benevolent, and I'll type this entire thing out. It should be good for a few laughs.

Q: All the cool kids keep talking about drifting. What exactly is it?
A: Remember that time you hit an oil slick on the road, and your car started sliding sideways? Drifting is alot like that, minus your girlish screams. The sport of drifting is all about the art of the powerslide. Technically, that involves making the rear end of the car lose traciton so that it rotates toward the outside of the turn, all while the driver maintains control using the wheel and the throttle. But as far as spectators are concerned, drifting means watching professionals fishtail their suped-up rides around consequetive corners of a curvy track at speeds and angles that would make a fighter pilot nauseous. As a result, when judges crown a winner at a competition, he isn't the guy who got to the finish line first--he's the guy who looked the best on the way there.

Q: What kind of rides do drifters drive??
A: Not your Grandma's station wagon if that's what you're asking. The basic drift setup is a lightweight, well-handling, RWD car that's open to 'Fast-and-the-Furious-style engine modifications. Turbochargers and intercoolers are bolted on and other components swapped out for high-performance replacements. it's in super-tuned engines like these--some of which crank out 500hp or more--that Castrol SYNTEC motor oil shines (LMFAO)
With advanced additives that prevent power steeling buildup of corrosive particles and provide superior engine protection and endurance under conditions that would have lesser lubes crying "uncle", it absorbs all the abuse that a drifter can put his engine through. And that means Castrol SYNTEC won't have a problem guarding your power-plant--despite those thrice-daily trips to the nearest burrito joint.

Q: Where did drifting come from?
A: Not surprisingly, the same country that invented the video game developed an automotive sport that seems to defy the laws of physics. Back in the '70s, Japanese adrenaline junkies bored with just going fast, began drifting through curvy mountain roads. Hanging tail remained underground until the late '80s, and didn't make its debut in the US until a few kind drifters from overseas showed off their skills at a '96 demonstration in California. Ten year later, tuners stateside are realizing there's more fun to be had getting lateral--a few have even organized competeiteve drifting series with pro drivers. And now Hollywood's getting in on the act with The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (june 16th), which is set in the sexy and colorful underground world of Japanese drift racing, where the newest and fastest customized rides go head-to-head on some of the most perilous courses in the world.

HAHAHAHA. I love the product placement. PRICELESS!

Re: 3000GT...good for drifting?!?!?!?!

pontiac grand prix driftin 4 teh win!!!

no, my friend tried it, and ended up doing a 180...BRILLIANT! The way I figure it, teh movies will lead to 90% of teens attempting a drift. 50% will crash during this attempt. 50% of them, will learn their lesson, and chill out. So that means F&F 3 will result in 45% of teenagers driving better.

...or 90% totalling their cars. Eitehr way, I'm good

Re: 3000GT...good for drifting?!?!?!?!

Lets clear some of this stuff up.
  • A drift car needs not have 500hp. Take a look at the AE86. 160-ish hp and still a great drift car.
  • I prefer Quaker State.
  • I don't know what drifters they're talking to, but I believe most are asian, and don't go to burrito stands 3 times a day.
  • You don't want the rear end slipping. If you did, all the pro drivers would be getting crappy junk yard tires instead of paying $500+ per tire.
  • If F&F is what you're aiming at, I'd seriously re-adjust your ideals.
