90 Suburban Positive Battery Cable and Vacuum Lines
Please, could someone with a '90 Burban look at the Pigtail off the positive battery cable at the battery to follow it and tell me where it goes?
Also, I really need a play by play routing of the vacuum line system...ie...from the vacuum resevoir (round ball) to the, to the, to the, and so on. An animal chewed the two plastic hard lines an the firewall (black one and a slightly larger white one) Also where does the vacuum port sticking up out of the rear of the manifold tie in. Please help me understand where the "T"s go and all that. Could someone maybe provide me with some detailed pictures? Please, help me as I am almost ready to fire a new 357 engine (.040 over) and want everything perfect. |

While I don't have a '90 to be able to help you might be able to find one at a local wrecking yard or check the want ads for one that is for sale, take along your digital camera and you should be able to get most of your answers. Good luck.

Re: 90 Suburban Positive Battery Cable and Vacuum Lines
I have a 92 K1500 pickup with a 350.... I think the pos jumper off the battery cable runs to a junction block on the firewall. I'll try to look tomorrow and let you know for sure. Probally good to kown what engine you are talking about.

Re: 90 Suburban Positive Battery Cable and Vacuum Lines
Thanks for the replies...the junkyards in the area all have their engines removed so that was already a dead end. I was able to take a gander at a 94 Burb yesterday but the vacuum lines were very different and it had an electronic cruise control without a need for vacuum lines. There was a pigtail off the positive battery terminal that seemed to run down towards the starter but I couldn't see what terminal it connected to. I really need to know exactly where it is supposed to go.......If I connect it to the "S" terminal, wouldn't the engine immediatly start cranking over upon contact? The "R" terminal on the old starter I took off 6 months ago wasn't used...it is rusty and untouched. The engine is a TBI 350 punched .040 over and has ZERO miles. I don't want to chance the wrong connection because I still need to have the engine start immediatly and break in the cam correctly. Any TBI 350 owners out there???

Re: 90 Suburban Positive Battery Cable and Vacuum Lines
Stick a post over on the C/K forum. I notice several guys have recent questions about '90 rigs. Perhaps one of them could take a digital pic for you and/or answer your questions. I'd bet GM made the C/K series pretty similar to the Suburbans.

Re: 90 Suburban Positive Battery Cable and Vacuum Lines
I feel like such an idiot.........it hit me at work today where the pigtail off the positive battery cable goes.........ALTERNATOR!!!!
I could still use some detailed info concerning the accessory vacuum lines. Around 1988-1991 should be the same as mine. Thanks |
