Brake Booster problems, I think!!!!! PLEASE HELP ME

I just replaced the Brake Master Cylinder on my 96 cherokee 4.0 4wd. After I put the new master cylinder on and bled all the brakes i went for a test drive. The brakes are hard to push down. Seems like the booster is not working. It worked fine before I replaced the master cylinder. When i was taking the master cylinder off i heard an air leak (like air being let out of a tire). when i took the master cylinder off it was letting air out. I thought nothing of it at the time but i am confident that this has something to do with my problem. Anyway please help me. does the booster hav eto be replaced? can it be tested, or repaired if bad.???

thanks in anvance

The easiest way to teat it is to start your Jeep and pull the vacuum hose off the front of the booster. Is it sucks air, you have vacuum in the hose, if you feel or hear the pressure equalize in the booster, your booster is holding vacuum. It sounds like you simply inadvertantly disconnected the vacuum hose from the booster.
Have you driven it? How are the brakes as far as how well they stop you?
