Re: Someone help me

DON'T double post.

We need more info like what is it doing? Making noises, grinding, not engaging? All the starters should be the same.

Re: Someone help me

When you got this engine did it come with a flywheel or did you use it off the old one?

Re: Someone help me

I hate to post without having dealt with the situation, but have you tried shimming it? Shim on just one side should move it closer to the flywheel. I am assuming our car's starters are just like everyother car's starters. If you get it too close to the FW it will whine, then either take one of the half shims out or put a full length shim in until you get it right.

Did you inspect it before installing the engine?

Re: Someone help me

1. Make sure you have the battery in right. If it's backwards it'll cause the starter to turn but not catch.

2. Best thing you can do after that is pull the starter out and try to reseat it. If that doesn't work try and get a new starter and replace the one on there.

You shouldn't have to shim or do anything to the starter. The tranny plate is there for spacing on the starter. If it's not catching it's probably that the motor inside the starter that pushes the actual part of the starter out is busted or not getting any juice. Or the flywheel is screwed up.
