Ive seen many conversions from a 993 to a 959.
Thats probably what you saw.

Wow. Not a post in this forum for over 5 months... Anyways, I found out recently that Bill Gates bought a 959 and the Govt. said he couldnt drive it on the road (due to Porsche not wanting to give 4 to the Govt. to crash test), but he got his top programmers and comuter people to make a virtual crash test and the Govt. accepted it and now its legal in the US.

well there is one in this months DuPont registry there are two for sale. My uncle was looking at the silver one but insted went for a Ferrari F430.

if that 959 you saw was guards red, then i too have seen it. I was taking a drive on highway 9 (up here in Nor Cal) when i saw what appeared to be the tail section of a 959. Sure enough, it was a 959. I had my N/A 944 at the time, so i followed him as best i could, but when he hit a straight stretch of road, that baby took off like a rocket!! I don't think i'll ever see one again...
