Question Check engine light....

The check engine light on my '95 SE indicates problems with the knock sensor and the rear O2 sensor.

Any ideas on how not replacing them affects performance/operation?

These bastards are expensive to replace!!

Those two codes go hand in hand a lot. If your car is not running correctly (tune up time, dirty air filter) you may get excessive ping. The knock sensor detects this and retards your ignition, making it run rich which causes your 02 sensor to go out of range, throwing the 02 code as well.

Make sure your car is in good running condition first. Check your plugs, air filter and gas filter. If everything is in good shape, change the knock sensor first. Your 02 error code will probably go away after that and you'll be shocked at how much more power you will get.

Thanks for the info.

As you said, I'll start with the knock sensor. Everything else you mentioned (plugs, fliters, etc.) were replaced last May.
