Camry Oil Filter

Ordered some OEM oil filters for my 2004 Camry from an autoparts warehouse. Look to be made in Thailand like the Toyota dealership oil filters, but smaller in length (less oil capacity?). They have the 8 intake holes and look to be the same diameter. What are you Do It Yourselfers using out there?

Re: Camry Oil Filter

I own 2 Camrys and been using Fram filters for 30+ years on all my cars. Why Fram? That's all Military bases sell as far as I've seen. I've been buying them for $2.50 for years. In that time I've owned 8 cars. Until two years ago no engine problems. That's when I noticed metal flakes in the oil on my 87 Camry with 240K miles. Blame the filter? Who knows. That Camry just won't die.

Re: Camry Oil Filter

I agree with RIP. I have been using Fram oil filters and regular 3000 mile/3 month oil changes with dino oil on all my cars for many years. I have not had 1 engine mechanical problem.

Re: Camry Oil Filter

you guys are absolutely right. I have an 87 camry that i'm modifying for racing. Recently, it went under some serious rebuilds. I'm only 17 and have been driving that damn thing since i was 14.5. Not for the best part. Like one of you guys said, that thing just won't die. I took that thing off-roading (my way of saying that i took it to some dirt trails south of okeechobee in florida and went up against WRX and lancers---yes, it's front wheel drive) Anyway, oil filters should be no problem. Also, why go somewhere else when you can buy a Fram for like $4.00? It's only four bucks for crying out loud. And also, i used to do a 2000-2500 mile oil change. Why? let's just admit it...it only costs about $25 or so. It sure does makes the drive-train last longer.

I need you guys' help. Please reply to [email protected].
I was sitting on my front porch, looking out at the car, thinking about something crazy. That's when it occured to me. I looked at the car at an angle, from where i could see the front (from an angle and the driver side). The car seemed to look pretty mean (considering that my damn thing was riding on springs, with suspension components nearly dying of extreme rape-thanks to me )

I'm a junior drag-racer, racing my 68 nova (540 ci, 1005.91 hp and 747lbs/ft of torque..best 1/4 at 7.29). There's this saying in hot-rod world which goes something like this: "if it ain't workin' out for you, drop a sunbuckin' 350 in that M***a F****) What do you guys think? Droppinga 350 in an 87 camry? Sickest sleeper ever? I know i'll have to re-inforce the frame and maybe well out the engine mount platform, but it can be done!)

Re: Camry Oil Filter

Do some measuring on the engine bay in the Camry and the 350 (with tranny) as well as getting clearance under the car for the drive shaft.

You may be better off putting the Camry body on your Nova.

Re: Camry Oil Filter

raziullah007 you would be better off posting this in a new thread. (And spare us the asterisked obscenties - this forum is generally surprisingly free of such unneccessary and offensive usage).
