Brake Groan 1996 JGC
I have a 1996 JGC 5.2 w/ 154k miles and my wife has a 1997 JGC w/ 131k miles.
Both of our vehicles make a groaning sound at the front when the brakes are applied and the vehicle is almost to a stop. Only happens under this condition. Both vehicles have visually good rotors and pads. Any ideas? |

Re: Brake Groan 1996 JGC
It's a combo of surface conditions on the pads and rotors due to the type of friction material, driving conditions and driving habits.
Could also be due to vibration/loosness between the back of the pad and the piston/caliper. You could try removing the pads ad applying some "disc brake quiet" type material (almost like an RTV silicone but don't use that) to the contact between the pad and the piston/caliper surfaces. That would be worth a try to see if it changes the sound. JD
