odd clanking sound when shifting
With no warning, my clutch is making a very odd noise. When I shift from first to second when I am going more than 10 miles per hour, there is a very distinct clanging/clanking type noise. It rattles until I re-engadge the clutch. You can feel this when you apply pressure to the clutch, it sort of rattles a bit. I doubt there is a relation, but recently my airbox (from under the air intake, left attached when installing cai) was cracked and is lose (holding on by one bolt). This is the only thing that has happend other than normal driving for over a year. Any advice as to what is going on??

Re: odd clanking sound when shifting
I'd say that noise seems like your throw-out bearing is taking a crap on you. How old is your clutch, maybe your 2 gear synchros have gone bad?

Re: odd clanking sound when shifting
I'm not sure how old the clutch is. I think it happens in other gears than 2nd but I haven't tried because it is so loud I don't want to break anything. I think I am just going to have to take it to the shop...

Re: odd clanking sound when shifting
yeah sounds like a throw out bearing problem. it would really help if you knew it did it in other gears.
try to just have the car running and push the clutch in without trying to shift, if its the throw out bearing it will do it then as well.
