Formula not doing what I tell it to do.

Why is it that if I'm at highway speed, then I floor it, there is a second before the car lets out that roar and blasts off? There is literally a moment when I've already stomped the accelerator, but nothing has happened. I'm afraid this is going to give someone a one second jump on me if we decide to race our babies down the highway. Any thoughts?
My Formula is TPI, the throttle body action is smooth and it should be very clean inside. I only run premium unleaded. Might I have dirty injectors? Bad fuel pump?

well too bad but it is like that.. when you floor it, the car downshifts at that second. it is not like manual tranny when u hit the gas, the car jumps..

Well, that sucks! There's got to be something I can do to minimize that gap.

Re: Formula not doing what I tell it to do.

Well, maybe I'm not looking in the right places. I tried Jeg's and Summit Racing, but I'm only finding kits for 4th gen's. Maybe these also fit my 89, but I don't think so.
Does anyone know where I can go online? Or some brands to look into? Maybe some of you 3rd genners?
