Why didn't they ask for feedback before eliminating the neon and replacing it with the caliber? Sounds like a load of crap as always from DC

Re: Neon gets replaced

But why replace the SRT-4, which is a sports car, with a crossover suv/car? Obviously they are trying to make up for lost sales. The group of buyers that want the SRT-4 I beleive is smaller than those looking for something such as the Caliber. The Caliber is larger, still has some power, and is designed to compete with the Matrix, Vibe, etc. It has decent fuel economy and can carry larger items then most cars. So it isnt a performance car, not in the least. I really hope Dodge will at least make an improved SRT-4. After all, they have the other SRT vehicles, not having a small sport compact would be missing out on the potential for extra sales.

Re: Neon gets replaced

hey, i work at a dodge dealer, and have driv'in several of the new calibers.....my opinion.....junk !!!.....sure they have plenty of bells and whistles that are nice, but i think this is to compensate for the lack of get up and go, ptimarily thanks to the new "world engine and cvt2 trans" (that by the way reminded me of driving a snowmobile). you would think that dodge would have slowly introduced all this NEW technology over a couple of model years, but NO. lets see...

new stuff in one brand new vehicle

- new world engine (1.8L, 2.0L, 2.4L) that by the way has a tiny screen in the block that all the oil going to the cyl head must pass through !!, what a joke
- the new CVT2 trans....if you like feeling shift's don't even bother, you hit the gas and the motor goes to 4 G's and stays there till desired speed.
- brand new A/C system (i.e. compressor, yeah dodge has no luck with the old compressors, might as well try a new one eh ?!...lol, yes i am canadian !)
- brand new cooling system, yes with a primary and secondary thermostat), this system also has no bleeder screw to get air out of, what a plumbing nightmare, can you imagine the air locks after a service ?!
- the door trim panels are integrated with the window regulators, anybody have a bad pwr window reg. before (haha...no not on a dodge vehicle), thats right, if the reg., goes bad, replace the whole door panel. about the only things you can service seperate is the master switch and the door speaker...great thinking !

you would think that when this vehicle was designed with this demograph in mind, they would have re-thinked a few things, sure the price is right, but all the othe downfalls outweigh that for sure

thanks for listening to my rantings, drive one for youirself to see
