lt1 cam question

Bone stock 94 TA and i would like to upgrade the cam. Was wandering if the engine needs pulled or if there is enough room to pull it out with it in, and any recommendations on a cam and lifters would help. I would like to get the car to around 350-375 RWHP by the end of next summer. I wanted your guys' input on if i should/need to change intake, injectors, throttle body, fuel pump to get this desired HP, or if a cam, exhaust and a tune can get me there. Also if i just change the cam for now will i need to change anything else besides lifters and is a tune a good idea after this or waste of money. thanks for any responses.

Re: lt1 cam question

Usually I have pulled the motor on any car when I do a cam change...but that is my preference !!!. You MAY be able to do it...if you have a clear shot after removing the radiator and/condenser...

I would start out by calling the Tech group at the Cam Manufacturer...they can direct you on what cam to use, what to replace, and what might need to achieve your RWHP.

And yes...I am sure someone on this forum has some hands on advice and recommendations!!!

Yes, you can do it with the engine in the car.

Re: lt1 cam question

Really depends on which cam you choose on what supporting mods you need but a 52MM tb, 30lb injectors (get SVO), a good tune, a CAI , some headers and a catback will most definetly get you to your goal with a moderate cam.

Re: lt1 cam question

im glad to hear that i can pull it out with it in the car, but then again i could do so much more to it if it was out. How big of a gain am i looking at with a mild cam and maybe cat-back with a tune? One more question, will my auto 4L60E hold up with 350-375 HP, cuz if not im thinking about leaving the car stock and buying a manual. Ive been wanting to boost the power of my bird for a long time, just wish i would have gotten a manual well thanks again for the posts.
