Stalling problem...

Now I have a new problem

My wife used the car this afternoon and after parked for a little while it would not start... Cranked fine but no start... So I went to rescue her and by the time I got there the car had started... She tells me that she had the A/C running... I shut the car off and it restarted but after a few seconds died... The A/C switch was now off... Started again and ran for a few seconds and died... Started again and then it ran OK and we drove around the parking lot a bit... Shut it off and restarted and again it ran for about 5 seconds and died... Started again and it ran for awhile and then I drove it home... About a 2 mile drive... It seemed fine during the drive home... It's now it my driveway... I'm gonna let it cool down and try to start it again... Any ideas of what might be wrong or what I could start to check for??... I recently had the CAT replaced, the instrument cluster, and the BCM replaced...

Re: Stalling problem...

Probably an unrelated issue but I noticed this small pool of oil on the intake manifold, right behind and below the alternator... Leaking intake manifold gasket??... Everywhere else is nice and dry... I sucked some coolant out of the radiator and it is clear red in color... Oil off the dipstick looks clean also... So any thoughts on the stalling problem and this oil leak are appreciated...

OK, my thoughts on this are to look at cleaning the the throttle body intake and be sure air filter is reasonably clean. check PVC valve should rattle freely. Then check resistance in plug wires (really sounds like one bad wire to me) could also be a bad or weak plug. That oil you speak of could be from spillage from filling or the intake leak problem these are known for. but check the most simple things first ie: Vacuum leaks, plug wires, electrical connections, etc.

Thanks for your response... A couple of months prior to this stalling problem I replaced the air filter and PCV valve... I had also cleaned the throttle body and the MAF sensor... I haven't checked plug wires or plugs... They are probably original since 2001 and 51K miles... After Saturdays stalling incident I also removed and cleaned the idle air valve (I'm not sure if that's the right name for it. It's located on the throttle body just to the left of the MAF)... It was all carboned up... Since then the car has started and run perfectly... What do you think?
